Tirol.Uncovered "Tirol's nature parks and the Hohe Tauern National Park" Tirol values its alpine landscape as a precious treasure. That's why large areas in the Zillertal Alps, the Ötz Valley, at the Kaunergrat, in the Lech Valley and in the Karwendel were placed under protection. The Hohe Tauern National Park occupies 1,800 km2 in East Tyrol, Carinthia and Salzburg. Building bans and strict traffic regulations guarantee a pristine Alpine landscape, including glaciers over 3000 m as well as Europe's last wild river, the Lech.
